I am recruiting for global Automotive company based in the Birmingham area, they are looking to a controls engineer on a two years FTC which is likely to be made permanent. They are offering a leading pension package that is the highest in the West Midlands and worth thousands of pounds a year + bonus and some unbelievable training opportunities including being taught how to programme PLC’s.

*For this role they would look at someone a bit more junior who has a really strong electrical skill-set and can interrogate PLC’s (Siemens TIA or Classic) – ladder interrogation and knowledge of function blocks and some minor mods is what is needed for this role, they can develop you to programme PLC’s. They would also look at someone who is strong on the robotics side (ABB) who can programme and also has a strong electrical knowledge. They would also look at someone who is in a controls engineer role currently.

Experience required for the controls engineer:

• 7 years + working as a strong electrically biased maintenance engineer and good knowledge of Siemens S7 including interrogation/mods
• OR experience working as a controls engineer currently
• Experience with ABB Robots would be advantageous
• Experience within a production line environment – ideally automotive but would look at other environments
• Electrically qualified – ideally to level 3
