Our Building Products Recruitment Division Grows

Hannah Kirk

We’re one of the few recruitment agencies that have a specialist division for the Building Products sector. With our team working in the industry for over 20 years. But, we want to do more to tackle the issue that clients come to us about – Recruiters not understanding the Building Products sector.

To tackle this, we decided to expand our search for internal talent, to focus on transferable skills. With the aim of bringing on team members that have worked on the ground and have experience in the industry. By doing this, we will be able to focus on training on just the recruitment side rather than both.

Due to this change, we’re excited to share that Elizabeth (Lizzy) Scattergood has joined our team as a Recruitment Resourcer. Lizzy wanted to introduce herself and explain a little bit about her experience:

“My name is Lizzy and I have worked within the construction and manufacturing industry since 2015 – predominantly involved in customer service dealing with all the highs and lows of the sector on a daily basis.

Fast forward to 2022, where I will be taking my customer-focused skillset and transferring it to my new role as Recruitment Resourcer at Stirling Warrington.”

What Will Lizzy Do As A Building Products Resourcer?

As mentioned, Lizzy has joined us after working with a manufacturer for five and a half years, supporting merchants and direct to site customers. So, with her insight, she’ll be able to fully explain the role to prospective candidates. Helping ease candidates into the industry.

She’ll be working closely with our senior recruitment consultant, Natalie (Nat) Chapman, who has over 17 years’ experience recruiting in the building products sector. Nat will be training and guiding Lizzy as she grows in her recruitment role. Giving her the building blocks to create bespoke hiring campaigns that truly support employers and candidates.

We asked Lizzy for her initial ideas on how she is going to use her experience to help candidates and clients.

“I am hoping to be able to use my knowledge of how the sector works and what is required in the jobs I will be recruiting for, as I have been there myself or worked closely with people that have. Understanding the industry can be one of the most daunting parts for prospective candidates and I hope to be able to apply my skills and knowledge to coach candidates through the process.”

Understanding the industry is integral to recruitment success!

Lizzy touches on a really important point here. How learning and understanding an industry is one of the most daunting parts for prospective candidates. This is why it is so important for our recruiters to have a full understanding of their industries. So that we can share this insight and support them as they take a new direction. In fact, this is now imperative to hiring campaigns as industries are having to look outside of their sector- due to this candidate sparse market.

Now, more than ever, candidates need that little bit more support to help them pivot their skillset to new markets. Luckily, we are here to help them make that jump.

What is Lizzy looking forward to in her role?

Joining a new business and industry is daunting. So, it’s important to take a moment to reflect on what you’re looking forward to doing. As it can help keep you grounded. So we asked Lizzy just that. This is what she shared:

“I’m looking forward to helping people find and land their dream jobs with the Stirling Warrington team. I know firsthand how intimidating it can be to apply for new positions, especially in an industry that is completely unknown to many.

I’m excited to show people how exciting and fulfilling working in the sector can be and I cannot wait to get started.”

What does this mean for our Building Products Recruitment division?

Our building products recruitment division has always thrived as a result of Adams and Natalies’ expertise. Both are constantly busy supporting new and existing clients with their hiring campaigns, so it has proved difficult for us to be able to give back to the sector. So, with Lizzy joining the team and extending the support that we can give our clients, we can be even more active in the market and fully utilise our membership in the Building Merchants Federation.

We are very excited that Lizzy has joined the team and we look forward to seeing her flourish in her role as a resourcer!
